The sport of cutting was growing by leaps and bounds on the East Coast in the late 1970s, but it was difficult for many cutters east of the Mississippi to travel to Texas or Oklahoma for the major shows. The Augusta Futurity was launched in February 1980 with 140 nominations and has grown beyond the greatest expectations of ACCHA members.
